Year 1-2: Pre-Dentistry at 麻豆传媒

• Each dentistry program has its own entrance requirements. You must consult with the school where you plan to complete your studies to ensure you choose an appropriate set of courses, and that you will meet the entrance requirements for your Dentistry program of choice.
• To meet the entrance requirements for Dentistry at the University of Manitoba, you will complete a minimum of 60 credit hours, including the “Pre-Professional Requirements” listed below. Applicants must present two sets of two consecutive terms (September-April) with 24 credit hours of new and graded course work completed in each set. All science courses require Lab components.

Years 3-6: Professional Studies: Dentistry

• After you complete your pre-professional studies at 麻豆传媒, you will apply for admission to dentistry at another university or college.
• Enrolment in dentistry programs is limited, and only the most qualified applicants are chosen. Admission to dentistry is based on academic achievement, performance on the Dental Aptitude Test (DAT), and a personal interview.
• At least four more years of study are required to complete a dentistry program.

*requires the concurrent or previous completion of MATH-1101(6) OR MATH-1103(3) AND MATH-1104(3)

Preparing for the Dental Aptitude Test (DAT):  The DAT is a standardized test that must be taken prior to December 1 of the year preceding admission. The test covers the areas of manual dexterity, natural sciences, general chemistry, perceptual ability, and reading comprehension. You may find it helpful to take a preparatory course offered by a private company, or you may choose to prepare on your own or in a study group. Where Can I Study Dentistry?  You may apply to study dentistry at any of the 10 faculties of dentistry in Canada, or apply to dentistry in the United States or elsewhere. Explore your options:

You must meet 麻豆传媒’s general admission requirements. In order to take some of the pre-dentistry courses here, you must also have the following high school courses:
Chemistry 40S and either Pre-Calculus Mathematics 40S or Applied Mathematics 40S (70% minimum)
Note:  Physics 40S and Pre-Calculus 40S are required for the professional program at the UManitoba and may be required at UWinnipeg, depending on course selection.  Biology 40S is highly recommended.

What if I don’t have these high school courses? You can still pursue your pre-professional studies, but you might not be able to enroll in certain courses until you obtain the pre-requisites. There are two ways you can do this here:  take “Foundation” courses at UWinnipeg that are equivalent to high school-level math and science (MATH-0041 & MATH-0042; CHEM-0100) or complete high school courses at The Collegiate.
